With the arrival of summer, the hours of use of sunglasses multiply and we need to clean them more frequently. Protective creams, sweat, sand, chlorinated or salt water on the beach are factors that dirty our lenses and frames. We are going to see very simple tips to clean optical sunglasses according to the type of lens.
Mirrored Sunglasses:
The mirror treatment is an aesthetic finish on the outside of the lens. As it is a treatment that is more sensitive to scratches, we will always clean the glasses with plenty of cold water to remove any dust or particles that may exist. We can dry the lenses with a chamois or cotton cloth, and you can also use absorbent paper such as kitchen paper or a disposable handkerchief.
Anti-reflective sunglasses:
When the lens has an anti-reflective treatment. Most models of sunglasses from any firm are organic. Organic lenses are more resistant to breakage, but on the contrary they can be scratched more easily. For correct cleaning, we will wash the glasses with water (never hot) and dry with a chamois or cotton cloth or with absorbent paper.
IMPORTANT! In the case of lenses with anti-reflective treatment, they should not be cleaned with soaps or detergents, as this can remove the treatment.
Photochromic sunglasses:
Photochromic sunglasses, these glasses are briefly defined as those that darken or lighten depending on the amount of sunlight they receive.
The care they need is like any organic lens. Clean with water to remove particles and specks of dust and dry with chamois or cotton cloths or absorbent paper.
